When we pray, does God show any signs that He is listening to us? Do we pray to a vacuum or to a God who listens? God listens to us when we call on Him; He pays attention to every word we bring before Him.
Psalms 34:15 (NKJV) reads, “The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry.”
Whether we are asking for His intervention, praying that He meets our needs, or seeking healing, deliverance, or other things, His ears are always open. Therefore, when you go before Him in prayer, be sure that He will listen to you.
How Do You Know God Is Listening to You?
· Confidence in Your Prayers
1 John 5:14 (NKJV) – “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”
When you feel a sense of confidence deep inside your heart while praying, He is indeed paying attention to your prayers. This confidence comes from your understanding of the character of God. When you know that He hears, He answers, and He cares, you approach Him without fear or doubt in your heart. The boldness and faith you have while praying will assure you that God is listening; that your heart is attuned to His.
· Divine Revelations Are Signs That God Is Listening to You
Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) – “Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”
God has promised that when we pray, He will reveal to us things we knew nothing about. Any time you receive a revelation about something or anyone while praying, know that God is listening to you. God may bring a vision, an understanding of something, or an image to symbolize something when you connect with His power through prayer. You see, when you pray, heaven opens. And when heaven opens, our spiritual eyes are opened. We start seeing things not in the flesh but in the Spirit. This can only happen when God is listening and connecting with us as we pray.
In Daniel 9, Daniel prayed and God gives him a vision about the future of Israel.
Daniel 9:17 (NIV) – “Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, Lord, look with favor on your desolate sanctuary.”
He asked God to listen and God confirmed that He was listening through the vision.
· God Will Grant Your Heart Desires
1 John 5:15 (NKJV) – “And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”
If you ask your child to bring you a pen from the drawer, they can only do it if they listen to you. Likewise, God meets our needs because He listens to us. He answers prayers and meets specific needs because He is attentive to our prayers. Answered prayers, fulfilled heart desires, and every need met, are all signs that God is listening to us.
