Signs You Are Not in God’s Will

Signs you are not in God's will

Knowing the signs that you are not in God’s will is crucial for living a fulfilling life. Often, we do things thinking that we are on the right path when we actually aren’t. We drift from the will of God in our day to day endeavors without knowing. Proverbs 14:12 (NKJV) reads, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” However, God loves us so much. He uses different signs to show us that we are stepping out or missing out His will. But, how do you know the signs you are not in God’s will. Can you really tell that you are drifting from the will of God? Yes, you can easily tell if you are not in the will of God. Below are some of the signs you are not in God’s will.

A Lack of Peace Is One of the Signs You Are Not in God’s Will

God gives peace that surpasses understanding to those who walk in His will. Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV) reads, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” Everyone who is walking in the perfect will of God experiences a kind of peace that the world cannot give. Even in the midst of chaos, turmoil and hardship, these people still have peace in their hearts and minds. However, the case is different for people who are not in God’s will. If you are not in God’s will, you will know no peace.

Closed Doors

God works in mysterious ways to open doors before us. He works in powerful ways, and in ways we cannot comprehend to open doors that seemed closed in our lives. In Revelation 3:8 (NKJV), God says, “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept my word, and have not denied my name.”

When you walk in the will of the Lord, He will open doors of success, prosperity, good health, promotions, and many other doors. God says He will do this to you if you keep His word. Keeping the word of God is walking in His will, and doing what the word says. The opposite will happen if you do not keep His word. Doors and opportunities will shut before you. Others will experience breakthroughs and favor in the same areas you are experiencing failure. Therefore, when you notice doors are closing before you, know that it is one of the signs you are not in God’s will.

Stagnation Is One of the Signs You Are Not in God’s Will

God’s desire is for us to experience new days that are better than the day before. Our today must be greater than yesterday, and our tomorrow must be greater than today. He moves us from one level of glory to another by the power of the Holy Spirit. However, there are times when we may not experience any elevation or promotion. This is normal if it happens for a short period of time. But it is not normal when you experience stagnation for a very long time. When it happens so, it could be one of the signs you are not in God’s will.

Straining/Lack of Grace

When you do everything in the will of God, you do not strain. God will always grant you the grace to do beyond your ability without straining. Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Anyone who walk in the will of God is strengthened by Christ to do all things under the sun. The grace of God makes everything easy and manageable. On the other hand, anything done out of the will of God will make you strain and burn out. You will have to force things up and use a lot of energy or resources to make things work. Anytime you find yourself straining to do something, be in the know God is warning you that you are not in His will.

Endless Wrangles in Relationships Are Warning Signs You Are Not in God’s Will

God designed relationships in a wonderful and amazing way. All relationships, whether they are romantic relationships or not must bring fulfilment to each party. They should reflect the image and the love of God. I understand that no relationship is without its ups and downs. But, there are always ways to solve conflicts and come up with lasting solutions that make the relationship strong and healthy. However, this may not happen with relationships that are out of the will of God. A relationship built out of the will of God will always have conflicts and fights day in day out. How is your relationship? Do you fight over petty issues every day? How do you solve your differences? Check out if the wrangles are signs your relationship is not in God’s will.

Lack of Interest in the Things of God

One of the major signs you are not in God’s will is a lack of zeal of things about the kingdom of God. Do you find church sermons boring and a wastage of time? Are you at a point where you consider the fellowship of brethren meaningless? Have you lost interest in praying and reading the word of God? These are some of the clear signs you are not in God’s will. As you slowly drift and move away from God’s will, you lose interest in His teachings. You won’t feel the urge to attend church services anymore if walk out of God’s will.

The Bible in 1 Peter 5:8 reminds us that the devil is always looking for whom to devour. Therefore, when we start drifting from the will of God, He captures our minds and makes us lose interest in God. He devours us and moves us further away from the Lord.

Failed Plans

Proverbs 16:9 (NKJV) – “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”  When you are in God’s will, He will direct your steps and establish your plans. He will show you the way and bring your plans to completion. God is the one who brings to fruition everything that we do in accordance with His will. He will never let you stumble nor make you experience failure if you are in His will. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him. And He shall direct your paths.” However, when you decide to do things your way, all your plans will fail in the end. The end of a man’s ways is destruction, disappointments, shame and failure.

Conclusion

Signs you are not in God’s will are there to warn us whenever we start moving away from God. They are not meant to show that God has left you or that He does not love you anymore. Rather, they are meant to make you turn back to God. The signs you are not in God’s will should serve as a wake-up call for you to stop doing things your way. We are children of God, and everything we do must bring glory and honor to God. May God help you and I to walk in His will every day.
